For Our Children
Children's Ministry at Southwick Congregational Church
Welcome to Southwick Congregational Church, a terrific place for families!
We offer a variety of settings for children to explore and learn about God's word. Our classrooms are located on the second floor of New Fellowship Hall, and we encourage you to visit our facilities.
Our Nursery is a fresh and sunny room with age-appropriate toys and furnishings. We encourage you to bring your infants and toddlers to spend an hour enjoying story time, rest, and music with us. This is a wonderful way to introduce your children to our church community.
Preschool - For children ages 3-5, we offer our preschool classroom. To accommodate inquisitive young minds, the environment is slightly more structured than that of our Nursery. Here, children hear Bible stories, and create crafts or color pictures that go with the stories. They are also encouraged to experience God through music and group activities. Our Elementary classroom is set up for children who are attending kindergarten through 4th grade. Classes meet the second and fourth Sundays of each month. Teachers guide students through a lesson from God's word, as well as a variety of interesting activities.
Youth Fellowship - Children in 5th grade through high school are invited to attend our Youth Fellowship. This group typically meets on the second and fourth Sundays of the month during Sunday Service, for food, fun and fellowship. Our Youth Group participants enjoy many activities and outings while exploring how God's word relates to their everyday lives. Youth also support our church mission activities, such as our food drive for Southwick Open Pantry.
Parent Participation - Our church school program relies on your support, and we welcome your participation! Please be sure to check out the family participation options and choose how you can use your talents to help support our children:
- help in the classroom as the need arises (3-4 Sundays per year)
- assist with a Fellowship Night (Movie Night, Holiday Gathering, Craft Night)
- nursery assistant
- substitute teacher
- help with our special events (Vacation Bible School, Christmas Pageant, Easter)
- work with our Youth Group
We are committed to your child's well being. We employ a safe church policy and safety. Each of our classroom leaders attends yearly training sessions, and we obtain a background check on all who work with our children.
